Énouement

You transport yourself into the future

Experiencing months and years in a matter of seconds

As if skimming life’s chapters in “cliff notes” fashion

In peeking at these moments down the road, you grin

Knowing that despite the bumps and bruises along the way

There were greater lessons and moments of clarity

You momentarily sigh and relax

But it is fleeting, and quickly turns bittersweet

Future you expresses gratitude towards current you, but the echoes dissipate

Because your current self knows not of these outcomes, and can never know

By going back to the present when this vision ends, you cannot tap into this foresight

You are unable to transcend space and time to alter your journey

And alas, you simply welcome this brief gift

Cherishing and savoring it selfishly

For at least you now know …

… that it’ll all turn out alright
